How We Calculate Your Ideal Heights

Our formulas are based on ergonomic research and human factors engineering to ensure your workspace supports your body properly.

Standing Desk Height

Height × 0.62

When standing, your desk should be at elbow height. This is approximately 62% of your total height, allowing your arms to rest naturally at your sides with elbows at a 90-degree angle.

Why it works: This ratio accounts for the average proportion of arm length to total height, ensuring proper posture without shoulder elevation.

Sitting Desk Height

Height × 0.40

When seated with proper posture (feet flat, thighs parallel to floor), your desk should be at about waist height. This is 40% of your total height, adjusted for seated posture.

Why it works: This accounts for the seated position where thighs take some of the height, leaving the desk at proper elbow height.

Monitor Top Height

Height × 0.93

The top of your monitor should be at eye level when standing. This is approximately 93% of your total height from the floor.

Why it works: Your eyes naturally look slightly downward at rest. Setting monitor top at eye level prevents neck strain from looking up or forward.
